Cindy, Mum of three from Lil One Of The Ashes, is a regular at The Green Room, nestled in The Els Country Club. With her little ones by her side, she's dished out all the reasons why you need to bring the kiddos for a dining experience like no other.

A cosy space

With its charming blend of corner and end booths, this spot is an absolute dream for families, especially those with energetic little ones like ours. There are also high bar tables for those who prefer to have a quick drink and a bite. It’s one of those places which caters to all crowds - which we love!

You’ll find a small play corner to the side with toys, which is always a bonus when you are dining with kids. My younger two (ages three and five) love to play for a little bit and then take the toys to the table while we wait for our food. I’m just happy we don’t have to bring toys to a restaurant – which often gets left behind! At The Green Room, you can play and then put it back afterwards. Plus, for older kids, there is an arcade room!

When the weather is nice, we like to sit outside and the kids can play in their outdoor playground. There’s also a splash pad right next to it, and often they have a bouncy castle set up on the weekends which the kids love.

What’s on the menu

The Green Room’s menu is a mixture of Mediterranean and British favourites. Good news for those who like to have breakfast all day - you can have eggs benedict at 4pm if you wish as they offer an all-day breakfast menu!

They do amazing Fish and Chips with proper beer battered cod and triple-cooked chips. My husband loves their braised short rib, cooked with red wine and served with mash and vegetables.

For those who prefer a healthier alternative, there is a large salad section and also flatbreads. These are perfect for sharing and always taste to fresh and wholesome.

Don’t worry – The Green Room also has a kid’s menu. There are chicken tenders, fish n chips (mini version for the little ones), hot dogs, and penne pasta, amongst many other dishes.

Sunday Roast at The Green Room

If you head over on a Sunday, definitely try their Sunday Roast - it’s a winner for the family. End the week with a generous plate of meat and all the trimmings! My husband and I both prefer the beef striploin, though you can also opt for lamb leg, chicken or a vegetarian option. They offer a kids’ roast too which mine enjoy.

Why we love it

The Green Room has a real community feel to it, it’s a true family-friendly gastropub. It’s casual, cosy and most importantly – the kids are happy dining there thanks to their fabulous menu. Plus, the indoor and outdoor play areas help keep them entertained! Saving 15% on our bill when we come here is also a huge advantage - thanks Privilee!
