As an avid food enthusiast and a lover of Asian food, I recently had the pleasure of enjoying an evening at a true gem in the heart of Abu Dhabi – Asia Asia - with the help of my Privilee 20% discount on food and drinks!
Asia Asia promises an unforgettable journey through the vibrant flavours of pan-Asian cuisine. I have dined a few times at Asia Asia in Dubai at Pier 7 and always had an amazing experience, so was excited to try one that is now close by to where I live on Yas Bay Waterfront.
Immersive and impressive interiors
We arrived at Asia Asia on a Wednesday evening at about 8pm. I was struck by the alluring and welcoming vibe from the moment I entered, expect mood lighting, incredible smelling food and gorgeous interiors at every turn - the attention to detail is next level here. The dimly lit interiors are adorned with intricate Asian-inspired decor and delicate lanterns that cast a warm and inviting glow, setting the stage for an evening of culinary delight. The Buddha statues that greet you as you walk in are something you’ll recognise from Instagram - with many more photo opportunities awaiting you! We were seated inside, close by to the enormous cherry blossom tree, which was super cute and the perfect backdrop to photos.
A toast to exquisite drinks
As I settled into my seat, I couldn't resist exploring the impressive drink menu. I opted for a ‘Love & Rocket’ from Asia Asia’s Signature Cocktails Menu - a combination of Gin and Prosecco with a touch of rocket. The refreshing combination was delightful and so easy to sip on. My friend ordered a ‘Komodo Punch’, also from the signature selection, and said it was the perfect blend of sweet and smokey flavours - infusing rum with vanilla and passionfruit. Yum!
A feast of Far East flavours
The menu at Asia Asia is impressive, to say the least, there is SO much to choose from and all of it looks delicious. From dim sum and sashimi to curries and steaks, there is something to satisfy all taste buds.
For starters, we asked our waiter to recommend a few for us to share. He was so knowledgeable and more than happy to help - taking into consideration our likes and dislikes - we felt really accommodated. We began with Shrimp Tempura, Crispy Sweet Potato, Wagyu Beef Gyoza and a Spicy Tuna Maki Roll. I have to thank the waiter here because each dish was impeccable! The standout for me was the shrimp tempura, it was cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside and juicy inside, served with a peanut chilli sauce (not too spicy). My friend was a huge fan of the spicy tuna roll, which was super fresh and flavoursome, with a spicy sesame sauce for an extra kick.
For my main course, the Miso Black Cod caught my eye. The succulent black cod, marinated in a rich miso glaze, practically melted in my mouth. Meanwhile, the Tenderloin was calling my friend's name, served alongside a caramelised teriyaki sauce, she said it was one of the best she has tried - super soft and tender.
To go alongside our mains, we shared Singapore Noodles and also ordered some dim sum! There are a variety of dim sum flavours to choose from, so we decided to try the Beef & Truffle and the Chili Chicken Dumpling. Both options were really tasty and accompanied our mains really well as they had such different flavours. It was great to be able to try so many different things - and there are still so many more I’m desperate to tuck into!
Sweet sensations
No culinary voyage is complete without indulging in a decadent dessert, and Asia Asia did not disappoint. I can 100% recommend the Nutella Gyoza if you go! Expect warm Nutella served inside a warm doughy gyoza, so good. We also couldn’t leave without trying the famous Asia Asia Mochi - a delicate sphere of ice cream encased in a crispy shell.
