Do you know what I love more than going to the beach? Well, being the gym-bunny that I am, the answer to that question is going to the gym. And thanks to Privilee I can get the best of both worlds. I still haven’t tried all the venues Privilee has to offer, but I have made a few favorites that keep me wanting to return.  

Sofitel Dubai The Palm is one of my absolute favorites for days when I want to have my cake and eat it too. Free kids club, and one of the best hotel gyms I’ve seen to date. And of course, stunning beach and pool facilities.

How I mix sunbathing and training

Usually, my husband and I take turns hitting the gym versus playing around in the pool with our 4-year old, but if your child is ok with it, you can leave her/him in the kids club while you sweat it out in the gym and/or beach.

The days when I combine the beach and gym isn’t necessarily the day I do my most challenging workout. I usually go for a shorter quick fix to make sure I get that good post-workout feeling of accomplishment. It simply feels more relaxing to relax at the beach after if I know I’ve done a little workout first, if that makes sense?

A workout you can try on your next beach day

Here’s a little workout for you to try for a pre- or post-beach quick fix.

3-5 rounds of:

  • 10 dumbbell thrusters
  • 10 chin-ups
  • 20 alternating lunges
  • 10 pushups
  • 20 alternating single leg v-ups

Go as heavy as possible maintaining good form, and rest as needed between exercises.
