Privilee Member, Megan, from @JustTwoMums shares why Common Grounds is an excellent spot for both kids and adults..

Privilee has been busy adding loads of fab restaurants to its ever-growing list of venues, and Common Grounds is one of our new family favourites! They have three locations where Privilee Members can save 15%; Mall of the Emirates, JBR, and Nakheel Mall on Palm Jumeirah.

Great kids’ area

We love to go for family weekend breakfast. Especially to Commons Ground’s location on The Palm, as there is a perfectly placed play area at the back of the restaurant. When dining with small kids exit points are important and the position of this play area means kids have to walk through the entire restaurant to pull a disappearing act. So no matter where you sit the kids can play without mum and dad having to hover. Perfect! We get some time to ourselves to enjoy our food (and lots of coffee!) and they are busy having fun, making friends, and playing. This kids’ area is excellent because it even includes arts and crafts for the little ones to do! My girls has a blast here.

Delicious food

Common Grounds offer an all-day breakfast which is ideal for young families. Mum and Dad can enjoy a late breakfast while the kids who usually eat earlier can order lunch.

My husband and I ordered from the all-day breakfast menu, which has a huge amount of options - from French Toast to Turkish Eggs! I opted for the Kale & Mushroom Scramble, which featured roasted mushrooms, kale and feta cheese on toasted sourdough, alongside a flat white - delicious! The food was served piping hot and the portion size was great. My husband went for the Smoked Salmon Benedict, which included poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, and spinach on a toasted English muffin. He said it was lovely and the salmon was super fresh. He also tried one of their smoothies - “Bells Beach” - and said it was one of the nicest he’s had! It was a mix of mango, banana and pineapple - super refreshing and perfect for summer. I tried a bit and was a fan too.

Kids’ options

Common Grounds don’t offer a specific kids’ menu, however, there are loads of dishes they can order to share, and also some sides which go down a treat - which is what we did for our girls. It was lunchtime for them, so they wanted to try the Tom & Serg Burger - a classic burger with fries! They ate this between the two of them and in addition had the Mixed Berries and Greek Yoghurt with House-made Granola from the breakfast side menu. Both loved it and nothing was left over - a very good sign!!

Top tip: Ask to swap the fries for some broccoli to make the meals even healthier.

A great morning together

Our two loved the play area so much they didn’t want to leave when we finished eating so that’s a pretty good indication it’s an easy meal out with kids! We will definitely be returning for more weekend breakfasts and during school break for some play dates!
