Mum of three Cindy, from Lil One Of The Ashes, escaped to Ras Al Khaimah to spend a day at Doubletree by Hilton Al Marjan Island with her family and some friends.
Here’s what they did, and a few tips for when you Privilee here!
Driving from Dubai to Marjan Island
We left the Dubai Marina around 9.30am and got to Doubletree by Hilton Resort slightly after 10.30am. It was a nice drive along the E311 with the kids – a trip ‘out of town’ is always exciting for them!
We were asked to check in at the lobby, where they also checked our Emirates ID - so don’t forget to bring this! The team then gave us a signature DoubleTree chocolate cookie (much appreciated!), and then we went on our way to begin our daycay!
Playtime at Chuckles Kids' Club
Doubletree’s Kid’s Club is accessible from within the resort’s lobby. This is a big plus for the summer months when it’s hot! I spent some time in there with the three little ones, whilst Daddy took the opportunity to hit the gym, located on the 8th floor.
My younger kids loved painting and craft making, and my seven-year-old enjoyed playing video games! Everyone ended up at the rock climbing wall which was so much fun, and a great way for them to burn up some energy.
The team is present to make sure the little ones are looked after if you did want to leave them here whilst you take a break.
Lunch at Vespa
After all of the fun and games, everyone was getting hungry, so we strolled from the back gate of the Kid’s Club towards Vespa, the resort’s Italian restaurant.
We picked a nice cool spot indoors, overlooking the scenic beachfront. Lucky for us, Vespa has an excellent Kid’s Menu with classic favourites like crispy fish fingers, tomato pasta and chicken nuggets, so the kids were very happy and well-fed. Everything is priced reasonably – which is great, especially when you can add the Privilee discount on top of that (20% off)!
I ordered the Seafood Fettucini and my husband ordered pan-seared seabass - both of which were delicious and perfect for a lazy Saturday afternoon lunch. Good news – all restaurants in DoubleTree are licensed, so treat yourself to an ice-cold spritz as you indulge in hearty Italian dishes, you won’t regret it!
Splash and slide at the Pirate Boat Aqua Zone
After our yummy lunch, we met up with our friends who were at the resort, by the family pool. The family pool is huge and has a shaded toddler pool close by. There was a lot of splashing about before the kids ran towards the Pirate Boat Aqua Zone for more fun.
They went up and down the Pirate Boat slides, and loved sitting on the chairs underneath the splash bucket. The great thing about this splash zone is that there are chairs scattered around so parents could sit and watch while the kids play.
Swim in the sea and bounce on the beach
We then went into the sea, which is right by the Pirate Boat Aqua Zone. They had a small inflatable set up not too far from shore, which you could swim towards if you wish! I think slightly older kids would really enjoy this, mine will in a few years I’m sure!
After bobbing around for a bit, we got out of the water and the kids ran onto the Bouncy Castle on the beach for more jumping and sliding fun. It’s non-stop for the kids here! I loved this, there are so many activities for them to enjoy and things for them to get involved in - it was a struggle to get mine to leave at the end of the day!
More Pool and playground fun
Before our day ended, we jumped back into the family pool to cool down. After a quick outdoor shower, the girls saw the playground en route back to the hotel and decided they wanted to play some more, so they swung, hopped and jumped around for a while before we decided to drive back.
Tip: If you want to take a proper shower before leaving the resort, head to the Spa on the 8th floor. Privilee Members are allowed to use the shower facilities there.
Jungle Float, next time!
That about sums up our one day in DoubleTree by Hilton Marjan Island! We didn’t get the chance to try the big Jungle Float where you could leap from trampolines and slide straight into the ocean, but that’s one for next time - for sure!
